Creating A Wall To Remember
Back in the day people would have wallpaper or even wood paneling in their homes on the walls. These days you can take it to another level by adding fabric and many different color options of paint. Many individuals will now be creative when painting their walls and also add their own art pieces into the theme on the walls. You will have to be brave if you are someone whom isn’t into the colored walls rather than creams and whites.
The pieces you place on your walls can be anywhere from stencils to abstract art. If you feel you can’t do anything but paint a wall one color, be creative and try. It won’t take much money to create a unique texture on the walls and it will make your own personality come out in the room. Just think of it as one way to express yourself without actually having to say anything.
Consider a common kitchen with a large blank wall. A homeowner could paint it, stencil it, add some wallpaper border, or could leave it as is. But if a homeowner really wants to bring some life to this room they should consider wall art. The first thing that would need to be done is collecting proper materials to execute a conversational and innovative art wall in a kitchen. Consider purchasing some cheap cookbooks of all shapes and sizes. Once you have done this you will need to rip each page individually from the cookbooks. Don’t worry about getting the whole page. These pages can be ripped in half or can be missing sections.
Try applying the cookbook pages on the bare wall in a collage style. This will add a great focal point into the room and also will draw everyone’s attention to it and they’ll say “wow what an idea.” You can use either transparent tape or wall glue to place the pages onto the wall. Of course the wall glue will last longer than traditional tape, but it’s your choice. If you use tape, down the road if you aren’t feeling the wall art anymore it can be torn down easier. Cover your entire wall with these pages from top to bottom but make sure there isn’t any paint showing through.
Once the wall is covered in the cookbook papers, you’ll need to measure the wall and purchase affordable plexi-glass to place over the art work you just finished. Make sure when you measure the walls to leave an inch off each side so you have room to nail or screw the plexi-glass onto the wall. Once you place the plexi-glass on the wall over your art work and it’s secure, you can find some wood trim to place around the collage to give it a picture feel. Make sure the wood matches up with the other wood schemes you have in your kitchen area.
Add a final touch to the room, put a rug by the wall, and make sure it has some of the colors that are in the collage too. Or if you have done your kitchen wall, put the rug under the table, and in another area, not only will it make the room look better, but it will also leave less floor left open to be mopped.
Now you have a unique room that you have made art out of. Some other ideas would be cookbook pages in the kitchen, in the family room put of photos of the family on vacation or just in every day life. Or some unique ideas you may have for a room.
